After jointing one edge, set the table saw for 4 9/16". This box will be 3/4" deeper than usual.
After ripping, joint that edge until the board measures 4 1/2" across the entire length.
The board must now be planed to remove all the mill marks, and to get it to the desired thickness...
...1 inch. Now how many people make their display cases 1 inch thick? Most are 3/4"...HMPH!
Next, we'll use a dado router bit: 1/8" wide, 3/8" deep. Set it at 1/2" high to cut the dado.
This dado, or groove, will hold the glass at the front of the display case.
