{12 Bar Blues In 'E'}

- This lesson will be in 4 parts: The Walking Bassline, Playing A Smooth Lead Break, Soloing Over The Bassline, and finally Putting Them All Together. -

Putting It All Together

We've gone over the walking bass line, the lead break, and filling in around the bass line. Now it's time to put it all together! You have many choices when it comes time to decide what part(s) of the song to play. You could play:

#1 the bass line throughout the song;

#2 the bass line until you get to the lead break, then switch to lead;

#3 nothing until you get to the lead break (perhaps you're the one singing and can't sing and play at the same time);

#4 Guitar #2 throughout the song;

#5 Guitar #2 then throw the lead break in at the proper time;

#6 or a mixture of all parts.

I've given you al parts tabbed out, it's up to you to experiment with when and where to put what parts. I know that's a lot of freedom, but that's what music is all about: Freedom of expression, experimentation, your own ideas. The MIDI file plays it as it's written, which of course you can too. Enjoy yourself!
